Greetings to you from Granny Wise and all of us here at All Seasons Homestead Helpers, Inc. in Jeffersonville, Vermont.
Granny Wise is All Season’s Homestead Helpers‘ writer and sustainability enthusiast. She urged us to create this Blog for her so she’d have a way to share her stories, knowledge and many findings with homesteaders, gardeners and simply all of you who like to take advantage of the abundance nature has to offer in any way that suits your lifestyle.
Some years ago, the Vermont GardenWay Living Center retail outlet changed its focus to outdoor power equipment. With that came an end to their gardening products catalog, a valued resource for many gardeners, home canners and do-it-yourselfers.
In 1989, we became a GardenWay equipment dealer, and continued to get many requests from the old catalog. The phone calls were steady. We heard you. In January 1993, we began researching the types of products formerly carried in the old GardenWay catalog. Our research revealed that many products in today’s market are built to minimum standards. We wanted to supply people with exactly the opposite; products crafted finely enough to pass on to one’s children.
In 1994 we published our first catalog and launched our mail order business. We developed our website, www.homesteadhelpers.com , in 1999. January 2006 provided us with the opportunity to purchase the Squeezo Strainer, one of the original GardenWay products and a staple in kitchens for over 50 years for canning. Many sales are made to people that used one years ago in their Grandmother’s kitchen. A real heirloom product all made in the USA!
There is a lot more to talk about, from tips to fascinating historical facts about everything pertaining to gardening, canning, food preservation and so on. Gather round in Granny’s Parlour to read about her latest discoveries and everything today’s homesteader needs to know.
